First in Asia! CSRone Wins Environment Analyst’s 2023 Sustainability Consultant Awards with Net-Zero Strategy

Kyra Woods, Policy Advisor at the office of Climate an Environmental Equity, City of Chicago, said that” The judge was impressed by the organization demonstration of turning it client’s sustainability commitment into action and how it able to its clients to in bet net-zero into their activities through a process period design and hence incredibility."

As global regulations increase day by day, most organizations are confounded when it comes to net-zero transformation. While organizations are having difficulty finding a suitable internal talent to solve the interlocking and multidimensional ESG problems, they are also trapped in a dilemma of hastily responding to pressing requirements and regulations. Thus, organizations urgently need a professional team with rich knowledge and experience in sustainability, covering environment, economy, organization management and governance, to provide appropriate business transformation strategies and solutions.

The Sustainability Consulting Awards held by Environment Analyst every year aims to recognize consulting firms that provide and achieve great and actual success in climate transformation strategy solutions. At the same time, it breaks away from past practices of awarding single enterprises. Environment Analyst publicly shares consultants’ strategic thinking and solutions on sustainability issues to encourage organizations to review their own risk issues and practices from another perspective.

As Taiwan's most influential sustainability consulting agency, CSRone successfully assisted dozens of Taiwan and Asia Pacific organizations in the finance, oil, chemical, medical, retail, technology, etc. industries to achieve their "net-zero transformation goals" in the past few years. Through comprehensive risk issue identification, diversified coaching mechanisms, and appropriate methods and tools, CSRone provided business strategies that allowed these organizations to reach their goals.

Gennie Yen, CSRone Founder and General Manager, expressed that “as a consulting organization that focuses on providing sustainability advice to organizations, I am very honored to receive this recognition during a time where climate change and net-zero transformation solutions are urgently needed throughout the world." Yen also mentioned that the advancement of net-zero transformation relies on the efforts from various professional backgrounds, skills, and roles. And that the core of consultation is to introduce diverse perspectives and viewpoints for organizations, expanding business perspectives and deepen strategic actions.

Consultation Insight: avoid bandwagon, focus on the five net-zero transformations key elements

Richard Chen, Director of CSRone, pointed out that "we have entered the systemic crisis era where global net-zero emission target is very clear and organization transformation is essential; corporates’ sustainable transformation is accelerating the change of traditional business models." Chen, who was invited to the award ceremony in Chicago, also proposed five key elements for corporates who wish to effectively speed up their net-zero transition.

  1. Identify: Resources are limited, corporates should focus on actual and specific climate risks that affect core business operations
With the rising sustainability trend, all sorts of risk issues have emerged. To avoid losing focus, Chen reminds that corporates should anchor key issues and set and manage goals as it is a very important step in sustainable operation of corporate organizations.
  2. Measure: Follow up regularly and make optimal decisions based on data indication
In addition to paying attention to the collection of data on a regular basis, the operation team should focus more on the quality of the data collected. In order to make optimal decisions and provide basis for related strategies, a team should be established to focus on specific goals; net-zero initiatives and performance must be included in the optimization scope.
  3. Configure: Establish vision, confirm the net-zero plan and set ambitious goals
Compared to sustainable commitments, declarations and press releases, stakeholders are more concerned with how issues are properly managed and what substantive actions have been taken to mitigate impacts and create positive impacts. Therefore, corporates must establish clear quantitative short-, medium- and long-term goals. This provides a clear direction for internal promotion or initiation of related actions and more concrete and effective external communications.
  4. Transparency: Disclose information regularly, provide progress reports and be open to feedbacks
Being overly subjective and disregarding the outside world is not a good way to implement net-zero transformation. Only by publicly disclosing results and generously collecting feedback for internal optimization and review can organizations effectively avoid operational blind spots. However, Chen believes that transparent information disclosed does not refer to extensive marketing. Transparent information disclosed should be verified and balanced.
  5. Lead: Value chain driven, build supply chain resilience and expand influence
In the process of promoting climate strategies, corporate organizations' engagement communication and actions in Scope 3 is the key that determines whether net-zero transformation can be successful. Thus, it is recommended to gradually strengthen the engagement between suppliers and contractors to drive the most critical operating partnership in the value chain. While giving back carbon reduction benefits, influence expands and corporate organizations can get closer to sustainable development goals such as social prosperity.
